About Me
- EnStitches
- Hi, my name is Amy and this blogging is new to me so here goes, I'll give it a whirl. I have 2 beautiful daughters who are both married to wonderful husbands and I have 2 beautiful granddaughters, ages 3 and soon to be 6 years old. They are my heart!! I have always enjoyed working out to stay in shape and boxing is my all time favorite thing to do now. I have been boxing for fitness for just over a year now. It is totally addicting and I love it. If you are interested in boxing for fitness check out www.hadleysboxing.com. My passion is my sewing. So much so I wish I had more time to do it. The "Melissa's Bag" you see displayed is the one I just did for my daughter. She put in a special request for this tote bag. I had alot of fun designing this one with her. She is also very talented and has her own business which you can check out at www.offthewallhome.com. I also took a couple of the fabric pieces I had left over and made her a picture frame. I forgot to take a picture of it but she is going to take one of it and send to me, so I will be posting it soon. This blogging is new to me so be patient as I learn more about it. Thank you for visiting.

Let us all be grateful
Okay, I hit the wrong button or something and I lost everything I just wrote. So let me do this again. As I sit here tonight and listen to all that is going on I am just getting more and more frustrated and sadden. I have to say at first I was upset when I first heard McCain had backed out of the debate on Friday. But once I learned why he had done it then my heart was pleased. Obama should have done the same. McCain is putting the people first and not the debate. I agree now, the debate can wait, we the people, all of us, the ones that are being affect by this economic disaster, that live here America, cannot wait. So yes the debate can wait! We are the United States of America and we should be proud of our country. And yes Obama did say this is not a Democratic or a Republican issue it is an American issue. Yes this is true. So why is he not putting us the people (Democrats and Republicans) first, but putting himself first. Look at us - we are losing our jobs, our homes, our everything we work so hard for. Is the Good Lord trying to tell us something? We should stop and take a look around and be grateful for all that we have, our homes we live in, our cars we drive, (even though gas prices are so high that we are seeing more people on bikes and walking) the clothes we wear, the food we eat, the jobs we do have and on and on. Are we grateful for what we do have and know that we are blessed? Is this his way of making us stop in our tracks and take a good look at ourselves? Do you pray? Maybe you should. Let us all be thankful for what we have and pray that we can turn this economic mess around and save ourselves and our country. Each morning when you awake thank him for this day that "he" made and rejoice in it. Yes the debate can wait and yes McCain is doing the right thing. He is putting us first even though it might cost him, because you are too blind to see it. Tonight when you go to bed, pray that he show us the way, pray for our loved ones, our family, our friends, our country. Spend more time with your family and friends. Let them know you love them. We are not promised tomorrow. God bless US everyone!!

Not much to say tonight
Well after not much sleep last night I actually made it through my day at work. It was a good day, alot accomplished at work. Made it to the gym after work. Not there long though, hit the bags, walked Maggie and did my sit ups. I had to get home and cut the grass before it got dark on me. Have you noticed it is getting darker earlier each night? Don't like it! Don't like it at all. I love the longer daylight! I don't mind the fall it's just that winter is soon after and even though we don't have bad winters here it is just so ugly looking. No flowers, no green grass, no one outside much, just blah. Anyway back to my day with no sleep last night. Don't know what I am going to do about that. I hope that I am good and "worn out" now that I have no problems sleeping tonight. I certainly deserve it! So on that note "Good Night" and I will talk to you tomorrow.
By the way I have corrected the time on my blog
I figured since I was up I should put the correct time on my blog which is central time and not pacific. well, off I go to bed. Wish me luck!
It's 1:30 am and here I am awake again staring at the ceiling
Yes that is correct it is actually 1:38 am and still wide awake. Tossing and turning, staring out into the dark, closing my eyes and counting, deep breathing, anything but still not sleep. This happens alot and I am so frustrated and of course so tired the next day. I will go 2 - 3 weeks at a time like this and then maybe 2 weeks (if I am lucky) with good sleep. Nothing seems to help. Like always I think that I have found something to help me sleep but then again it doesn't last. I know this happens to alot of women, I hear it all the time. I wish I could function with no sleep but I can't and I am simply not at my best. I hate it, I loathe it but what do I do. I will go back to bed and will remain awake for another couple of hours. This time I thought I would get up and blog about it. Maybe this will make me more tired and then I can sleep, but I know better. I have tried reading, that usually puts me to sleep but then usually within 15 minutes or so I am awake again. I know this is probably boring to someone who has no trouble sleeping and can't understand what I am going through. But on the other hand I know there are so many more like me going through the same thing. Anyway I guess I will say "goodnight" and go back to bed and hope and pray that I can go to sleep at least sometime before the alarm goes off in the morning.

garage sell time
Last time I had a garage sell I said I would never do another one. That was probably 2 years ago. Well guess what, I am doing another one. HA! This time my friend and I are doing one together at his house in Atoka. I figure different area of town okay I'll do it. Besides the fact he really needs to let go of alot of "old stuff". Might as well get paid for it and have me, his friend help him out with it. Then I figured if I am going to this trouble (remember I hate having garage sells) might as well see if I have anymore "stuff" to sell. And I do. No matter how much I hate having them I do like the money I make. It's funny my daughters and I use to have these at least once a year or so and every time we would go through each others stuff and we are like "oh, I want that". We never would advertise in the paper. The morning of we would put our signs out on the main street corners leading inot our subdivision and bamo we would have a hit. We most always wrap up around 12:00. Another thing we do at our garage sells is sell ice cold soft drinks. Everyone always wants something ice cold to drink while shopping. This is the perfect time of year for these sells. Weather is usually great and lots of people out and about. So for all of you people who enjoy garage sells "happy garage sells shopping"!

It's workout time
Well I am at the gym and waiting to get on the bag. I already have my hands wrapped and all I need to do is throw on the gloves when one comes available. I could do my neck exercises but there are 2 guys in the ring sparring. I could also do my sit ups with the medicine ball but someone is on that. I guess you can tell it is really busy here. Since moving to the gym in Bartlett we don't have as much room as we did at the old gym. I also miss the eleptical machine and the treadmill. I normally would get on one of those when it was really busy like now. I really like what the eleptical machine did for my thighs. I miss having my buddy Adam working out with me too. He always made it fun. Lots of laughs! Boxing is such a great workout! It really relieves a lot of stress and it is totally addicting. It's tough but it is so worthwhile. Everyone here is super. Well a bag is coming open so got to run. Talk to you soon!

It's cleaning time
It's thursday evening and I am housecleaning and doing laundry. I try to do this on wednesday or thursday nights so that it frees up my time on the weekends for my yard work and other things (such as sewing). Oh the single life! I started doing this years ago when we were busy planning my oldest daughter's wedding and every weekend was tied up. And sometimes just sometimes I might just do nothing on the weekend. Do you ever have plans and then change your mind because all you want to do is stay home and do nothing? But isn't this way of life everyone's. Anyway, this weekend I have a retirement party to go to (unless I change my mind again and not go) and my neighbors are leaving again for vacation in Florida. They just got back from Michigan week before last. I always take care of their cats and mail and paper and such while they are away. I seem to be the one neighbor that looks after things while everyone else goes out of town. I don't mind though. One day it will be me going somewhere fun all the time. And when the Good Lord blesses me I will have that special someone to share my life with. This is really coming across as a "poor pitiful me" story and actually I don't mean for it to. I am quite happy and he has blessed me with so much such 2 beautiful daughters and 2 grandaughters and the rest of my family and my friends. My granddaughters really light this world up! They are so much fun and such a joy to be around. But aren't all grandchildren. Well I hear the dryer buzzing so I will go now and talk to you this weekend. Have a wonderful one!

Anyway, I have some sewing to do that I need to complete by the weekend. So I will say goodnight to you and off I go to get this done. I will talk to you tomorrow. Sleep tight and have a happy, terrific Thursday!!

Apparantly I have been on vacation to no man's land.
Okay , okay. I have not been faithful to my blog. I am so ashamed. But I am back and trying to stay more true to my blog. I have not been on any vacation, I wish I could say it to be true. But the furthest I have been has been Lakeland, Arlington and Atoka! Well anyway. Here are a couple of my latest bags. Heather's bag is the one I just completed for my oldest daughter, Heather. Amanda's bag is one I finished a few weeks back. Amanda is a sweetheart. She is a friend of my daughter, Melissa. She saw Melissa's tote bag I did for her and had to have one. I think it took us longer picking out the fabric than it did sewing it. But as always it was fun. The fabric we chose for all 3 was Amy Butler. Amy Butler is the new "in fabric". Well off I go and promise to return again soon. As always thanks for visiting.

Fun picture frame I made for Melissa
As I am sitting hear listening to an online seminar regarding Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy I thought to myself I should update my blog. As you can tell it has been a while. Here is a picture my daughter took of a picture frame I made for her birthday. It really is cute and I take remanants from fabric leftover from my sewing to make these. I will have to sew one up that I do for a nursery. It is really pretty.

Seminar April 3rd
Our next Hormone Makeover seminar will be April 3rd. Come learn all about using Bioidentical Hormone Therapy for menopause , PMS and even andropause (male menopause). For those of you who want to come off of the synthetic drug or who are looking into learning more about the use of Bioidenticals then this is the seminar for you. We start by showing you a movie regarding all of this information and then we open the floor for discussion. And believe me when I say there is alot to discuss. Summer Regel keeps herself well educated on the subject by attending symposiums and reading all the latest studies. She and her husband, Josh (he is our compounding specialist) own Regel PharmaLab here in the Cordova area. They are both pharmacists and take great pride in educating themselves and the staff on all compounding medications. We will work with your ob-gyn regarding this subject. We also do compounds for your pediatric, veterinarian, family medicine, dentist (to name a few) needs. We have a great attendance at our seminars but unfortunately have just a limited number of seats so contact us at (901) 757-9434 to reserve your seat today. Yes I am still here
Hi everyone. No I have not vanished. I have just really been busy with work and sewing till late at night and I certainly need to be doing it right now! Well a few weeks ago I had to have some emergency dental work and it has not been fun. Plus the fact it has put me to bed a lot just to recover from it. Sad part is I still have more to be done, I just need to recoup from the trauma I have already had. It also interfered not only with my job, and my sewing ability but I have also not been able to do my boxing fitness workout. Boy have I missed it! If anyone needed to release some regression it would have been me at this time. Anyway, back to my sewing. People who come to my home and see what I sew with are always amazed. This is a picture of my antique sewing machine. My mother gave me this machine a few years ago. She bought this when I was very young. I have tried sewing on newer models, but I just can't seem to get away from the tried and true. I love this machine. There is no plastic parts and so simple to use. Sure you say, well it has none of the fancy things on it that the newer models have. Well that's okay I love it and it serves my purpose. One day when I have more time maybe I will try to learn a newer model, but for right now I am completely content with my antique Singer.

Hormone Makeover Seminar
Summer Regel and I had our seminar last night regarding Menopause and the use of Bio-identical Hormone Therapy. We had a good turnout and unfortunately some women were disappointed because they did not sign up in time. But, they will be coming to our next seminar on April 3rd. At our seminars we open with an introductory of who we are and why Josh and Summer Regel have devoted themselves to helping women and men with their hormonal issues by using Bio-identical Hormone Therapy, which is a compound. Summer is our Bio-identical Hormone Therapy Specialist. After the introductory we show you a 20 minute movie and once the movie is over Summer opens the floor for discussion. Lots of questions are answered. She keeps up to date on all the studies regarding BHRT as well as attending symposiums regarding BHRT. We encourage you to start off by having a Saliva test done. Once the results come back to our lab we then call you to set up your consultation with Summer. The consult takes approximately 45 minutes. She goes over the results with you and then gives her recommendation to your doctor. Once he approves this then she starts you on your BHRT. Yes, you do have to have a prescription from your doctor. She is very thorough and does follow ups with all her patients to see how they are doing.
For those of you who are not familiar with compounding let me explain. It is like the old Apothocary days when you would take your prescription into the drug store and give it to your pharmacist. Instead of them simply filling the prescription by pulling the commercial drug off the shelf, you actually saw your pharmacist compound your drug. This means there is a formula for that particular drug and the pharmacist prints out the formula (like a recipe) and then proceeds to make the drug for you. You are actually given special attention by this drug being compounded especially for you. Make since? Regel PharmaLab specializes in compounds only. We do not carry any commercial drug that you would get at your local Walgreens, Kroger and such. We want to be known as you and your physicians problem solver. We also compound for Pediatricians, Vetenarians, Dentist, Internal Medicine and the list goes on. Please go to our website which I have listed as one of my favorite sites so that you may learn more about us. If you are interested in attending one of our upcoming seminars please email us so that we can get the information to you. And by all means if you have any questions please let us know.
Have a great weekend!

Spring Cleaning early, sleeper sofa for sale.
I know I know. It's Monday and most of us don't like Mondays. Have to go back to work after enjoying the weekend off. But, look at it this way, we have another weekend to look forward to!! Well, I don't know about you, but I am jumping on my spring cleaning already. I always get very fidgety around this time, expecially in the month of March. Such a tricky month. You are so anxiously waiting the arrival of spring and then BAM, we have major snow! Anyway, back to my spring cleaning. I have a sleeper sofa for sale if anyone is interested. I bought it a couple of years ago for my sewing room, so that when my granddaughters come over they have a bed to sleep in. Well, that didn't quite work out that way. They of course sleep with me. Which is quite fine. There we are, me, Reagan, Lyla, Scooby (my 3 1/2 lb Min Pin) all in the same bed. I usually don't get much sleep because they are all fighting over who sleeps next to me including the dog, and somehow they all manage to get on me, around me, anyway they possibly can. Anyway, I have included a picture of the sofa. It looks brand new and sleeps well I have been told. Actually it has only been slept on probably half a dozen times. Anyway if anyone would like more information on it, let me know. Till next time.

Fun weekend
I hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I did. I went to hear a friend of mine and his band play Friday night. They play the good old songs from our day. The picture you see is of his wife, Cassandra, our friend, Miranda, Cassandra's sister Belinda and me. We had a great time dancing and visiting with each other. Sunday I spent the day with my daughter, Melissa at the flea market. We have not been in such a long time. By the time we got there most of them had already packed up and left but we still enjoyed it. Melissa is so creative. We looked thru antique jewelry for her some earrings, pins and such for her to turn into magnets and push pins. She got me so excited about it that I bought a couple pieces for myself and went home and made my own. See my picture of the flower pins I made. So simple to do. If you would like to learn how to make your own go to her blog at offthewallhome.com/blog and she explains how simple it is. We spent the rest of the afternoon shopping and then went to dinner with my other daughter, Heather and her family. Great time! I did plan on sewing all weekend but that pretty much got nipped in the bud. I have got to get some bags made up, not to mention I want to sew some new curtains for my house. Oh well maybe next weekend.

It's Saturday
Hey everyone! Well the weekend is finally here. Don't you hate that we can't wait for the weekends each week just to wish out life away. I do too, but I do every week, can't wait to get those 5 workdays out of the way just to have the weekend. But, if you're like me your working on the weekends too! Housecleaning, laundry, sewing, then comes Spring and you have to do your yard work and upkeep of your flowerbeds. It's never ending. But I am blessed each and every day that I have these days to do them.
Anyway, I have found a couple of more pictures of bags that I have sewn in the past and I am posting them today. I sure wish I had taken pictures of all the ones I have done the past 6 years or so since I created EnStitches. But, I don't. You learn from your mistakes. Anyway hope you enjoy looking. Till next time, Amy

Amy's morning at work
Well my day here at work is starting off wet and yucky. Alot of rain expected today. Of course it would be the day I have a luncheon scheduled for a local doctor's office. I am a marketing rep for a local compounding pharmacy her in Cordova, TN. Regel PharmaLab is over 4 years old and the owners are Josh and Summer Regel. They are both pharmacist and Josh's specialty is compounding and we are fortunate to now have his wife Summer as our Bio-identical Hormone Therapy specialist. For thoses of you who do not know what a compounding pharmacy is, it is like the old Apothocary days when you took your prescription in to your local drug store and actually saw your pharmacist make that drug. Everything done here in our pharmacy is compounded and one of our biggest is the Bio-identical Hormone Therapy. We are now seeing more things going toward natural and organic, such as the food we eat to the drugs we take. That is what Bio-identical means. It is plant based and it fits your body like it should, naturally. We have monthly seminars regarding Bio-identical Hormone Therapy, PMS and Andropause (male menopause). We try to have it at a different location each month. This month Laser Aesthetics on Hwy 64 is hosting it for us. This is our 3rd time at their location and really enjoy having it there. Each day I go out and call on different doctors, nurse practioners and such to let them know about us and what we can do for them and their patients. We also compound for pediatricians, family practice, vets, dentists, sports and pain doctors as well as ob-gyn doctors. Check us out at our website www.regelpharmalab.com. Until next time have a wonderful day.
